An incident involving a delivery man and a sergeant of the Military Police resulted in gunshots and an employee injured on Wednesday morning (26), on Avenida Rui Barbosa, in the Santa Terezinha neighborhood, in Juiz de Fora. The episode was reportedly sparked by a fierce dispute over a parking spot.

In the images captured from the incident, the police sergeant, wearing a gray shirt and without a uniform, appears next to a refrigerated truck, carrying bags. At a later moment, one of the workers of the slaughterhouse approaches the direction where the policeman was.

Soon after, the employee returns to the cabin of the vehicle, picks up an object identified by the PM as a butcher’s machete, which is no longer visible in the images. At the same time, the sergeant’s car is seen following behind the truck, out of the camera’s field of view.

Shortly after, the other employee returns to the scene, apparently to check what had happened, and they both start running. The policeman is seen with his hand on his waist.

According to reports by Major Jean Michel Costa do Amaral, the sergeant would have used his private weapon in self-defense after feeling threatened by the official armed with the machete. The confrontation resulted in serious injuries to one of the workers, who was rescued by a police vehicle and sent to the Emergency Hospital (HPS), where he underwent surgery. So far, his condition is considered stable by the company where he works, Fripai.

The sergeant was taken to the police station and his weapon was seized. The machete allegedly used by the employee was also collected by the corporation as part of the evidence.

According to additional information from the PM, the employee involved has a criminal history, including passages for drug trafficking and bodily injury. Fripai issued a statement stating that it is collaborating with the authorities to clarify the facts.
