Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado reaffirmed on Sunday (4) that the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro did not get re-election in the last election, on the 28th and thanked Brazil, which demanded the disclosure of the election results.

On Monday (29), with 80% of the ballots counted, the National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed the reelection of Nicolás Maduro, even without having fully registered the votes.

President Nicolás Maduro was declared re-elected with 5,150,092 votes, or 51.20% of the total. The opponent, Edmundo González Urrutia, had 4,445,978 votes, or 44.2%, with 80% of the ballots counted. According to the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, the result is irreversible.

“As a Venezuelan, I am very grateful for the response of some governments, in some way close to Maduro – such as Brazil, Colombia and Mexico–, and who have taken very firm positions so that the electoral truth is known. I am grateful for the clear position of the government of Brazil and President Lula, in demanding that the bulletins be released, one by one,” said Maria Corina Machado to the Fantástico program, on the Globo network, in the first interview given to a vehicle outside Venezuela after the elections.

For the opposition leader, Maduro’s re-election was a government plan.

“In the electoral centers, we had a citizen structure never seen before, with more than a million volunteers across the country so that we could receive the official ballot papers one by one. With this, in 24 hours, we were able to announce that the candidate Edmundo González was elected with a huge margin. This information is available to the whole world,” says Corina.

The voting minutes of the Venezuelan elections were collected by the opposition and released, with updated data, on Sunday (4).

The tally maps show that opposition leader Edmundo González won the race against President Nicolás Maduro with a an advantage of almost 4 million votes.

According to the opposition, the voting minutes were collected manually. As of Sunday afternoon, there were 7.15 million votes for González, or 67%, and 3.24 million for Maduro, or 30%. Other candidates represented 261 thousand votes, or 2.45%.

The CNE updated the result on Friday (2). With 97% of the ballots counted, Maduro won with 51.95% and González got 43.18%, according to the agency.
