Campbell was attended to by the medical team, but did not resist her injuries and ended up dying.

British Eventing, the governing body of Bicton International Horse Trials, issued a statement confirming the death of Georgie Campbell. The entity also regretted the fatality and asked that the privacy of the athlete’s family be respected at this time.

“It is with deep regret that we announce that Georgie Campbell has suffered a fatal accident while competing in the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England on Sunday 26th May 2024.

Medical professionals attended to her immediately after her fall on fence 5b, however, unfortunately, she could not be saved.

The horse, Global Quest, was evaluated by local veterinarians, returned to the stable and was uninjured. To respect the family’s privacy at this extremely difficult and sad time, no further details will be shared,” it said in a statement.

Campbell was a top-flight athlete and represented the UK in a number of major competitions. The rider had been married since 2020 to rider Jesse Campbell, who participated in the Tokyo Olympics, representing New Zealand.
