On Sunday night (16), a 15-year-old girl, nine months pregnant, had to have an emergency delivery after being shot while walking through the streets of Imperatriz, in the Maranhão. X-rays showed that the bullet was lodged in the baby’s leg.
According to the State Health Department, the operation to remove the projectile from the newborn’s leg should take place on Monday (17). The young woman’s health condition is stable.
Investigation
According to the Military Police (PMMA), the teenager was accompanied by her partner when the two were shot.
The initial hypothesis was that the crime was an attempted robbery. However, the possibility of theft has been ruled out. The Civil Police continues with the investigation and, so far, no one has been arrested.
